Gioiello di arte romanica risalente nella sua struttura base al XII secolo.
L'interno mantiene l'originario impianto romanico a tre navate spartite da colonne monolitiche con suggestivi capitelli.
L'attuale aspetto esterno risale al XVIII secolo quando, per allargare la porzione di piazza antistante la chiesa, fu abbattuta l'originale facciata in stile romanico e tagliata meta' dell'ultima arcata.
Allo stesso tempo, per mantenere le dimensioni interne, fu demolita l'abside e venne costruito un nuovo coro a pianta quadrangolare a capo della navata centrale.
All' interno sono conservate opere di assoluto valore artistico.
